He accepted it in person and he certainly thanked a range of colleagues but off the top of my head I couldn't say exactly who

I know what it is, I'm thinking of Chancer which for some reason I've confused with Capital City because they were both Appointments to View for me in 89-90.

By the evidence of last Wednesday, Vadim is indeed a lovely fella and you're right - Producer/Director would be more accurate. I think of him as a Producer because I first came across him when he and Gary Sinyor were being creative in how they financed Leon the Pig Farmer and that creativity was an inspiration for aspiring film-makers at the time. There was of course an Edgware/Jason Isaacs connection as the aforementioned school bus collected us from the forecourt of Edgware tube station, past which the Edgware Walker jogged, and in which a scene of Leon is set.

I was so absorbed in my own pomposity that I forgot to concur with you that Mr Joffe's achievements with Secret Life were incredible. A beautiful script, masterfully executed.

It's interesting that you imagine Clive Owen was in Capital City. I wonder who you are confusing him with - Douglas or Rupert perhaps?

I am sure Vadim would rather be tagged as a director but it's true he has produced some of his films. Lovely man.
